Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in New Jalpaiguri (NJP), Drive from NJP – Manebhanjan/Chitrey (95km/4 Hours)

Arrive at Chitrey by evening. Team introduction in the evening. From Chitrey the closest railway station is NJP & closest airport is Bagdogra. The travel time from NJP/ Bagdogra to Chitrey is approximately 5 hours. On this day we stay in Chitrey. Trek will start the next morning.

Day 2 - 11km/5 hours trek, Singalila Range, trek from Manebhanjan to Tumling (9,500ft)

After your breakfast, start trekking towards Tumling, one of the spectacular peaks in the Singalila Range. The trail constitutes rocky paths, some muddy sections & meadows. Fill your water bottles at the start of trek. Water sources are available only at Chittrey . Sandakphu Trek route often defines the border between India and Nepal so the posting of Paramilitary camps of SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) at all the major points is common.

Day 3 - 12 Km – 6/7 hours Trek, Singalila National Park & Trek to Kalapokhri

Wake up early to view sunrise over the Kangchenjunga range of peaks which is also known as sleeping Buddha owing to its shape. Get ready to trek to Kalapokhri covering a distance of around 9 km in 5 hours. While walking past the Singalila National Park, explore and discover the enchanting beauty of the vicinity. Enjoy staying overnight in a trekker's hut in Kalapokhri.

Day 4 - Kalipokhri to Sandakphu 8 km/4 Hours,

Today’s trek is an easy one of 7 km & will take about 4-5 hours. From Kalipokhri the trail gradually ascends to Bikheybhanjang which is a small hamlet. you reach Sandakphu from where you get a panoramic view including 4 of the highest mountains in the world - Mt Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Chomolhari, Pandim, Three Sisters, Kumbhakarna. Overnight will be spent in tents.

Day 5 - Trek down to Srikhola via Gurdum village – 18 Km – 7/8 hours

After breakfast, we start our descent. Start the day with a descending trek from Sandakphu to Srikhola. Trek will take about 5 hours to reach Srikhola. Once we cross Gorkhey river we enter Sikkim. Camp overnight at Srikhola.

Day 6 - Return journey to New Jalpaiguri (130km/5 Hours)

Post breakfast, Drive back to New Jalpaiguri. Trip ends here.

    The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
  • Safety equipment
    First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
  • Accommodation
    Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
  • Meals
    All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
  • Permits/ Forest fees
    UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
  • Experienced Trek Leader & Team
    Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.
  • Food during transit to and from the base camp
    Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
  • Mule and Porter charges
    Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
  • Personal Expense
    Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
