Overview

Kafni Glacier Trek is nestled with the scenic beauty with tranquility. It is located in the district of Bageshwar within Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state. Kafni Glacier Trek is situated left of Pindar Valley, beneath the famous peak of Nandkot and to the southeast of Nanda Devi Peak. Kafni glacier offers rise to river Kafni, which is an offshoot of river Pindar. Pindar itself is again, an offshoot of Alaknanda River, this is one of the two head streams of river Ganga. Kafni though a small glacier, is very well-liked by the trekkers and adventure lovers. It is compared with Pindar, the valley here is broader. We will come across the multi-colored high altitude flowers like that of Rhododendrons, which will make our journey to this icy paradise an unforgettable experience. Kaphini also puts forward magnificent views of Himalayan Treks like Nandakot (6, 860 m) and Nandabhnar (6, 236 m).

Itinerary

Day 01 Kathgodham to Loharkhet

So, the adventurous journey begins from Kathgodham Railway station with a morning pickup at 7 A.M. We will drive towards Bageshwar which is located at the conflux of Gomati, Saryu and Bhagirathi River. The distance is of around 160 kms from Kathgodham to Loharkhet and will take us around 8-9 hours to reach there. Overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 02 Loharkhet to Khati

Post breakfast we will start trekking towards Khati which is a big village in transit to Pindari. The trail will take us through pasturelands and captivating sceneries, offering the beautiful views of towering peaks. Overnight stay will be at camps.

Day 03 Khati to Phurkia

After having a health breakfast we will warm-up a bit and stretch ourselves so that we are all set to trek. We will start trekking towards Phurkia. The trail takes you through beautiful alpine meadows, uplands and valleys. The trekking distance from Khati to Phurkia is 9-10 Kms which will take us around 4-5 hours to reach there. Overnight stay will be at camps.

Day 04 Phurkia – Zero Point – Dwali

Waking-up early in the morning witness the glorious sunrise in the mountains, post breakfast start trekking towards Zero Point from where you can catch the glimpse Pindari Glacier. After spending some time at Zero Point and soaking all the beauty we will trek towards Dwali. Overnight stay will be at camps.

Day 05 Dwali – Kafni – Dwali

After early breakfast start trekking towards Kafni Glacier, today’s trek is long as the climb is quite steep and will take us 7-8 hours to complete it. On reaching the Glacier we will spend some time exploring the captivating beauty of magnificent Himalayan ranges and after spending some time there we will trek down to Dwali. Overnight stay will be at camps.

Day 06 Dwali to Dhakuri

Post breakfast we will start trekking towards Dhakuri. Dhakuri is the gateway to two of the most beautiful valleys of Kumaon-Pindari and Sundardhunga. The trek offers you the gorgeous beauty of Dhakuri, it as a high altitude meadow comprising of picturesque beauty and surrounded by lush green valleys. Overnight stay will be at camps.

Day 07 Dhakuri – Song – Loharkhet

After early morning breakfast we will start trekking towards Song and from there we will drive back to Loharkhet. Say goodbye to the magnificent snow-clad peaks and capture the moments in your camera as much as you can. Overnight stay will be at Loharkhet.

Day 08 Loharkhet to Kathgodham

Putting an end to our adventurous and memorable journey we will drive back to Kathgodham from Loharkhet post breakfast. The journey will take around 5-6 hours.

Inclusions

  • Transport to and from the base camp
    The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
  • Safety equipment
    First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
  • Accommodation
    Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
  • Meals
    All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
  • Permits/ Forest fees
    UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
  • Experienced Trek Leader & Team
    Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.
  • Food during transit to and from the base camp
    Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
  • Mule and Porter charges
    Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
  • Personal Expense
    Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
