Har Ki Doon Valley is a cradle shaped hanging valley in the Garhwal Himalayas. It is surrounded by snow-covered peaks and alpine vegetation. It is connected to Baspa Valley by the Borasu Pass This valley is at an altitude of approx 3500m above mean sea level and is snow-covered during October to March. The valley is around 25 km from Taluka. The actual trek to the valley starts from Taluka village and passes through Gangaad, Osala, and Seema. It is a 2-day trek usually done in two stages. First stage is from Taluka to Seema/Osla, and second stage is from Seema/Osla to Har Ki Dun. Return route is the same.
220 Km Drive to Sankri through the Mussoorie. Visit the Kempty Falls, 15 km from Mussoorie. Continue the drive towards Purola, which is located at a height of 1,524 mtr. Situated in the thick of rich forest area and wildlife, especially the endangered snow leopard, it is also known as the ‘Gate to Har Ki Dun’. Overnight stay at rest house/tent.
Sankari has awesome and spectacular views of the forest land and the valley Start the Trek to Pauni Garaat along with the Rupin River. Reach Pauni Garaat, a small village that sits at 7,000 ft, boasting of intoxicating wild roses, lush deodars and rich flora. Overnight stay will be in rest house/tents, there is also provision of sacks
The Path from Pauni Garaat to Kalkattiyadhaar is great, with interesting downturns and climbs, finally straightening out on the left side of the valley, merging into some beautiful forest area. Enjoy poetic chestnut, willow and walnut trees, all the way up to Gangar Village. Proceed towards the Kalkattiyadhaar campsite Overnight stay in rest house/tents.
From Kalkattiyadhar, proceed to the valley, crossing a hanging bridge over Rupin River. Later, ascend through pictorial fields, lush coniferous plants and beautiful meadows till you reach Har ki Doon A ridge that will give a vantage point to view Har ki Dun, you have to cross picturesque streams, meadows and serene valleys to reach the basecamp in Har Ki Dun. While advancing towards the campsite, one can expect an initial gradual climb with steep stretches in between overnight stay in the camp beside the stream.
4 to 5 hours trek back to Kalkattiyadhar via Osla Village, the village where Duryodhana from the Mahabharatha was revered and worshipped. Camping and overnight stay at Kalkattiyadhar.
Start trekking back the Sankri settlement. Enjoy the stunning views and the untouched beauty of the nature on your course and arrive in Sankri Overnight stay will be in a local hotel.
The astounding trekking in Har Ki Dun comes to and end at day 7. After Breakfast drive back to Dehradun Explore Dehradun at your own.
The maximum altitude for this trek is 12,000 Ft., offering breathtaking views and a challenging experience.
This trek is rated as "Easy To Moderate " due to the high altitude, rugged terrain, and demanding hiking days.
The trek spans 7 Days/6 Nights, including travel to and from Sankri.
Participants should be at least 8 Years to join this trek due to its demanding nature.

The trek starts and ends in Sankri.
6.30 am To 7.30 am from Dehradun Railway Station in a Tata Sumo or Tempo Treveller
You’ll reach Dehradun between 5 pm to 6 pm. You can book your travel any time after 8 pm.
We recommend to either carry cash or withdraw at Dehradun as there are hardly any ATMs in Sankri or post that.
Mussoorie and Nainbagh, on the way to Purola, are the last places where you will find an ATM.
You can get pretty fair connectivity on BSNL sims, Other connections are shaky and won’t work properly.
Purola is the last place before the trek where you’re likely to get a stable mobile signal. This is about an hour and a half before Naitwar, the base camp.
The best time to undertake the trek is during Winter (Dec/Feb) or Summer (May/June) or Autumn (Oct/Nov) or Spring (Mar/Apr).
In Dec the daytime temp remains cool and nights are cold. Night temp at Sankri, Seema and Har Ki Dun can be around 2°, -2° and -5°/-10° deg C. Day time weather remains warm, specially if it is sunny and scorching and can go as high as 25/30°C. Night/early morning temp at Har Ki Dun can be around 10°C to 5°C. From October temperature starts cooling down. At Har Ki Dun temperature can plummet to freezing in the night/early morning. Be prepared for 0°C. Expect similar temperatures if you trek during spring.
People with conditions such as Bronchitis, Asthma, TB, Epilepsy, high blood pressure, or a higher BMI are not allowed on this trek.
Children under 8 years old are not permitted to join the trek.
