Itinerary

Day 1 : Siliguri to Yuksom (150 km drive) | Time taken: 7-8 hours

Today, you will drive from NJP to Yuksom, from where we will start our trek the next day, Our team will pick you up from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station at 10 AM. Around late evening, the trek leader will give you a small briefing about the rules to be followed at the trek. Arriving in the town, check-in into a hotel, and retire for the day.

Note You are recommended to keep two passport size photographs and ID proof with you. This will be required for paperwork required to be done for the Goechala Trek. On the way from NJP to Yuksom, you will need to do two paperwork.

Day 2 : Trek from Yuksom to Sachen (7,150ft) | Duration: 6 hours Distance: 8 kms Elevation: 7150 ft

Waking up in the morning, Enjoy a hearty breakfast, Today will be the first day of this Goechala pass trek, start ascending uphill and follow the gorges of the Rathong River. Trek through dense forests, frequent ascents, and descents. The trail passes through three iron bridges. Arriving in Sachen, settle down at the campsite and call it a day.

Day 3 : Trek from Sachen to Tshokha (9,700ft) (via Bhakim/8,600ft) | Duration: 5 hrs Distance:7 km Elevation:9701 f

you will be crossing the Prek Chu River and hike uphill for around 2-3 hours to reach Bakhim. The trek for the day will take you through the aromatic viburnum plantations, overnight stay will be in a camp.

Day 4 : Trek from Tshoka (9,650 ft) – Dzongri (12,980 ft) via Phedang (12,050 ft) (5-6 hrs) | Duration: 5-6 hrs Distance: 3.2 km Elevation: 12050 f

The trek to Dzongri is undeniably one of the most demanding days of the Goechala Trek. Dzongri, the campsite for the day, is still a good 4-5 hours trek away from Phedang and involves some steep ascents. spend an overnight stay in camps.

Day 5 : Trek from Dzongri (12,980 ft) – Dzongri Top (13,675 ft) (1 hr) and back to Dzongri and then to Thansing

The day begins at 4 AM with an ascent to Dzongri Top (3, 946 M) from where you get unparalleled views of the Singalila and Kanchenjunga ranges during sunrise. breakfast at Dzongri after which we will begin our trek to Thansing it is going to be an easy hike of 4-5 hours with gentle ascents and descents alongside the Prek River. spend your day relaxing here at the campsite.

Day 6 : Trek from Thansing (12,930 ft) – Lamuney (13,700 ft) (2 hrs) | Duration: 2 hrs Distance: 4 kms Elevation: 13700 ft

Today, we will trek from Thangshing to Lamuney, the easiest day of our trek and we will trek up to an altitude of 13, 650 ft. The day is much required as you must get acclimatized to the higher altitudes before gaining further height. Camping is not permitted by the lake. After spending some time exploring the lake, we will be returning to our camps at Lamuney to spend the night there.

Day 7 : Trek from Lamuney (13,700 ft) – Goechala (15,100 ft) and back to Kokchurang | Duration: 10-12 hrs Distance: 18kms Elevation: 15100 ft

This is the toughest day of your trek and also the longest as we make our way to the Goechala Pass and back to Lamuney. If we are trekking from Thansing, we will begin our trek at 1 AM. If we are already at Lamuney, we will be beginning the trek at 3 AM. Arriving at this magnificent pass, behold the magical views of the Kanchenjunga and other distant peaks before you start moving back towards kokchurang for an overnight stay camp.

Day 8 : Trek from Kokchurang (12,100 ft) – Tshoka (9,650 ft) via Phedang | Duration: 7 hrs Distance: 16kms Elevation: 12900 ft

Today we will retrace our path back from Thangshing to Tshoka. The trek distance is approximately 16 km and takes about 7 hours to complete. you will be taking a route through the Dzongri Plateau in order to avoid the long climb. The trail passes through Prek Chu and the deciduous forests of Phedang. Enjoy the enchanting views of the Kanchenjunga Peak from a nearby ridge and start trekking back towards Tshoka. Arriving in Tshoka, settle down in the overnight stay camps.

Day 9 : Trek from Tshoka (9,650 ft) – Yuksom (5,800 ft) via Bakhim (8,600 ft) and Sachen (7,200 ft) (6 hrs) | Duration: 6 hrs Distance: 15kms Elevation: 5670 ft

Today, descending through the Prek Chu River, you will be arriving in Yuksom, the last leg of this Goechala trek. The trek from Tshoka to Yuksom is about 15 km and ideally, it is covered in 7 to 8 hours. We will start the day early providing you a packed lunch to savor on the way Arriving in the Yuksom, check-in into a local hotel, and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 10 : Departure from Yuksom

After having breakfast in the hotel, prepare your bags and check-out from the hotel. With this, the amazing Goecha La trek will come to an end.

    Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
  • Meals
    All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
  • Permits/ Forest fees
    UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
  • Experienced Trek Leader & Team
    Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

    Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
  • Mule and Porter charges
    Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
