Itinerary

Day 1 : Reporting day at Leh

Arrive in Leh through flight. check in to the hotel. This day is reserved for relaxation and acclimatization. Overnight will be spent in the hotel.

Day 2 : Acclimatization Day

sightseeing in Leh This is an extra day added in the itinerary to help you get acclimatized. Visit Shey and Thiksey Gompa and also Stok Gompa. Being in the same destination will assist in getting acclimatized well for high altitude. Overnight stay will be in rest house/tents, there is also provision of sacks.

Day 3 : Medical test day

As per the Government guidelines in Leh, the trekkers will need to go through a medical check up. Wake up early and to reach the Medical Camp as early as possible.. In case the tests declare you are not fit go for Chadar trek, you will not be allowed.

Day 4 : Leh to Shingra Koma (10,300 ft) drive then Trek to Tsomo Paldar (10,500 ft)| Drive: Shingra Koma 75 km, 3-4 hrs. Trek: 3km | 2 hr.

On this day, you'll be headed to the first campsite which is Tsomo Paldar via Chilling & Shingra Koma. Shingra Koma is the most unique place of Chadar for it is placed at U bend of Zanskar. The taxi will drop you where the road end and this is where you start walking on Zanskar. Walking with your gumboots on will definitely be a challenge in the initial stage. Getting the hang of patterns of ice formation will take some time. The trek for the day will take you to the first campsite of the journey, Gyalpo, situated at the river bend, covered by High peaks and amazing rock faces. This will be your first experience of camping under sub-zero temperatures. Overnight at Tsomo Paldar.

Day 5 : Tsomo Paldar to Tibb Cave | Altitude: 3,350m/ 10,950 ft.Trek 14km | 6-7hr

As you trek for 5 to 6 hours, you will only gain an altitude of 300ft from Gyalpo to Tibb Cave. Wake up from a chilling night and enjoy a warm breakfast. As you head to the next campsite at Tibb Cave, you will come across some of the most beautiful frozen waterfalls. These waterfalls have a mystery revolving around their origin or source but are nonetheless breathtaking. With the Zanskar flowing right beside you with its emerald green waters, you will stop midway to Tibb Cave for Lunch. You will be camping near the Tibb cave which is surrounded by dry sand.

Day 6 : Tibb Cave to Nerak | Altitude: 11,100 ft. Trek 13 km / 6-7 hrs.

after breakfast. The 13 km long trail will bring you the chance of seeing the most scenic landmark of the Chadar river trek, which is the frozen waterfall. Naerak will be the coldest of all the campsites on the trek where the temperature goes down to as low as -30 degrees during the night. It will be important that you wear proper clothing and in layers to stay safe from the biting cold. Reaching the waterfall on time would mean that you will have plenty of time to pay the village of Naerak a visit as well. Overnight at Naerak camp.

Day 7 : Nerak (11,000 ft)– Tibb Cave (10,950 ft) | Trek 13 km / 5-6 hrs

After breakfast today, you will start the return journey and go back to the Tibb cave. In the same way, you will witness a new layer of Chadar formed at some. Even though it's the same route, you'll be amazed to see how different it appears while coming back. Chadar Trek is an experience of a lifetime that every trekking enthusiast should witness. Overnight stay in Tibba cave.

Day 8 :Tibb Cave to Shingra Yokma via Gyalpo, Drive back to Leh | Trek 18 km/ 7 to 8 hours

Starting from Tibb, go up to Gyalpo, and then trek on to reach Shingra Yokma today You will reach Leh approximately by 6:30 in the evening. It is recommended that you book your return flight on the 9th day instead of the 8th day. Check-in into a rest house/tent and retire for the day.

    Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
  • Meals
    All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
  • Permits/ Forest fees
    UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
  • Experienced Trek Leader & Team
    Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.
  • Food during transit to and from the base camp
    Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
  • Mule and Porter charges
    Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
  • Personal Expense
    Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
