One of the five Prayags of Uttarakhand is “Devprayag”. “Devprayag” is a city and a famous pilgrimage place. This place is considered to be one of the Panch Prayags of Uttarakhand state. It is said about this place that when King Bhagirath celebrated the Ganga on earth, 33 crore Goddesses also descended from heaven with the Ganges and the Goddess made her residence in “Devprayag”, which is the Ganges Is the birthplace of Due to being situated at the Sangam site, “Devprayag” is the religious significance of the devotee of Tirtha Prayag. This place meets the confluence of Bhagirathi and the Alaknanda river. After this confluence site, this river is known as “Ganges River”. “Devprayag” is located at the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagarthi. “Bhagirathi River” 25 km from Gomukh Place Originates from the gangotri glacier.

“Alaknanda river” comes from Uttarakhand, which is known as Gangotri, which is known as Satopath and Bhagirath Khadak, which is called the Gangotri. Devprayag is situated at an altitude of 830 meters above sea level. “Rishikesh” is the nearest city to this shrine. Which is 70 km away from Devprayag. From the side of this place, “Alaknanda” and from the other side, “Bhagirathi” comes in the way, the scene looks very amazing. Devprayag is also called “Sudarshan Area”. It is said that there is no single crow in this place. This is a surprise in itself.

MYTHOLOGY OF DEVPRAYAG

According to legend, Rishimuni Devsharma performed austerity meditation on Lord Vishnu at this place. Lord Vishnu, pleased with the hard austerity of Rishimuni Devsharma, boasted that the popularity of this place will be expanded in three people and this place will be known as your name till date. Since then this place has got the title of “Devprayag”

MYTHOLOGICAL BELIEFS OF DEVPRAYAG

1. Devprayag is a special pilgrimage place associated with Lord Rama. According to legendary belief, Lord Rama had returned after winning conquering Lanka, then Lord Rama had been advised to be free from the sin of “killing of Ravana” ie Ravan’s slaughter, Rishimini suggested that in Devprayag, on the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda, From this, Lord Rama can get rid of the blame of Brahman murder, so Lord Rama, sitting on a rock in the sadhana place near the confluence of the rivers, Dada practiced till the time and in the present time the pedda priest shows that rock. There is still a mark on that huge rock, as long as someone is sloping in the rocks of someone and being scratched.
2. A small cave is located on the edge of Sangam near the temple of Ganga Maa. Which is known as “Hanuman Cave”. It is believed that Hanuman cave located in Devprayag, Lord Hanuman came to this place. And he had meditated on Lord Ram after taking a holy bath in Devprayag. And at the present time a statue of Shri Hanuman ji has emerged above a rock in Devprayag.
3. According to the Garhwal region, “Bhagirathi River” is called Saas and “Alaknanda River” is called “Bahu”.
4. On the edge of Devprayag’s confluence is the title of Lord Rama’s lotus. The belief of Devprayag is also that Lord Rama sacrificed his parents in this place. Therefore, in Devprayag, people consider their ancestors to perform religious rituals.

Descriptions of Kayakaing Event

Feb 17th – Down River Sprint (Pro’s): Starts from above the confluence rapid on Bhagiarathi river and sprint all the way down to the finish line (300+ meter long race course). Each athlete completes 2 laps and best time counts.

Feb 18th – Giant Slalom (Pro’s): Starts from above the confluence rapid on Bhagirathi river. There will be several downstream & upstream gates on both sides of the river. To finish the race, the athlete must touch the finish banner on the finish line. Each athlete gets only 1 lap so make it your best time.

Feb 18th – Boater cross (Pro’s): The top 32 athletes from the Sprint and Giant slalom events (combined results) will qualify for the pro’s Boater Cross. There will be heats of 4 kayakers. The racer will charge down to the touch me banner with hand on the river right. To finish the race, the athlete must touch the finish banner on the finish line. The top 2 from each heat will move onto the next round and so on. The top 4 athletes will qualify for the Super Final round and battle for the Boater Cross title.

Feb 18th – Best Indian paddler of the year award (Male and female): This award will go to the best overall Indian performer in all (downriver, giant slalom and boater X) events.

Feb 19th – Finals

Feb 19th – Mass boater cross (for all): Athletes will start from above the confluence rapid on Bhagirathi river. It will be a Le-mans style start. There will be some surprise obstacles which will be disclosed on the day of the event.

उत्तराखण्ड पर्यटन विकास परिषद द्वारा औली में 04 फरवरी से 09 फरवरी के मध्य पहली बार शीतकालीन पैरा गेम्स प्रशिक्षण कैम्प लगाया गया है । शीतकालीन पैरा गेम्स प्रशिक्षण कैम्प में देशभर के लगभग 80 पैरा एथलीट्स को आदित्य मेहता फाउन्डेशन, आई0टी0बी0पी0 तथा बी0एस0एफ0 के सहयोग से अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय शीतकालीन पैरा गेम्स के लिए संयुक्त रूप से प्रशिक्षित किया जायेगा।

इस शिविर में विभिन्न स्तरों के विकलांगता के पैरा एथलीटों को छः अलग-अलग शीतकालीन खेलों में प्रशिक्षित किया जा रहा है। जिसमें अल्पाइन स्कीइंग, बैथलॉन, क्रॉस कंट्री स्कीइंग, आइस स्लेज हॉकी, पैरा स्नोबोर्डिंग आदि खेलों का प्रशिक्षण 04 फरवरी से 09 फरवरी तक दिया जायेगा।

If you are a devout Hindu, the Chardham yatra is of immense importance. These four holy pilgrimage sites are opened for pilgrims only for a brief six months, which commences from the month of April and May. The dates are usually declared by the Char Dham temple committee, Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti before the holy day of Akshaya Tritiya. A highly auspicious day for the Hindu community Akshaya Tritiya also known as Akha Teej is believed to bring good luck.

It is said that, if Gold is bought on this day, it will never fade away and would continue to grow.

The Yamunotri Temple and Gangotri Temple open on the day of Akshaya Tritiya every year followed by the portal opening of Kedarnath Temple and Badrinath Temple after a couple of days. Yamunotri and Kedarnath Dham close on Yama Dwitiya/Bhai Dooj whereas the Gangotri Dham closes on the day of Diwali. And the door of Badrinath temple closes on the day of Vijay Dashami.

It is recommended that the Chardham Yatra should be processed ina clockwise direction. Hence, the yatra is ideally started from Yamunotritowards Gangotri, thereafter to Kedarnath and ultimately concluding atBadrinath.

बृहस्पतिवार को देहरादून से पिथौरागढ़ के लिए हवाई सेवा शुरू हो गई। सुबह 9.30 बजे विमान ने जौलीग्रांट एयरपोर्ट से पिथौरागढ़ के नैनीसैनी हवाई पट्टी के लिए उड़ान भरी। पहली फ्लाइट से नैनीसैनी पहुंचे यात्रियों का स्वागत धूमधाम से किया गया। नैनीसैनी हवाई पट्टी पर सुबह 10.20 बजे नौ सीटर विमान उतरा। इस सेवा के शुरू होने से देहरादून से पिथौरागढ़ तक मात्र एक घंटे के अंदर पहुंच सकेंगे।

The much awaited flight from between Dehradun and Pantnagar began  operation on Friday( 4th Jan 2019). Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Finance Minister Prakash Pant and state assembly Speaker Premchand Agarwal flagged off the first flight from the Jollygrant airport for Pantnagar.
