Overview

Binsar wildlife sanctuary was declared in the year 1988. This reserve forest is located at an altitude of 2270 m and it covers an area of 47.04 sq. km. The peak point known as Jhandi Dhar is at an elevation of 2412 m. Apart from protecting wildlife, the sanctuary was established with an aim to conserve the broad leaf oak forests, mainly located in the Central Himalayan region.

Binsar was the summer capital of the Chand Kings, who ruled Kumaon from the 11th to 18th centuries. During British rule there was a base at Almora and during summer Binsar was used as official summer capital. There are 5 villages inside the sanctuary and 30 villages on the boundary of the sanctuary.

This sanctuary is rich in diversified flora and fauna as the place is home to variety of plants and animals. The sanctuary has been declared an Important Bird Area by Bird Life International as there are more than 200 species of birds in the sanctuary, including Fork tail, Blackbirds, Laughing Thrush, Pheasant, Nuthatches, Parakeets and Monal. The Sanctuary is also home to Barking Deer, Himalayan bear, leopard, fox, musk deer, langur, porcupine, flying squirrel, chital, jungle cat etc.

Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, perched on top of the Jhandi Dhar hills, is a picturesque and quiet destination that boasts of rich natural surroundings and dense forests. Visitors can do activities like nature walk, trekking, cycling and bird watching. The highest point in Binsar is Zero Point that can be reached after walking 1.5 km inside the wildlife sanctuary. From Zero Point, one can see the Himalayan peaks like Kedarnath Peak, Shivling, Trisul and Nanda Devi. Inside the sanctuary there is an old 17th century Binsar Mahadev Temple constructed by Kalyan Chand, at a distance of 6 km from the forest entry gate

Itineary

Day 1: Delhi – Binsar Via Almora.

  • Upon arrival at Delhi airport / railway station you will drive to Binsar which is a beautiful forest destination perched on the top of Jhandi Dhar hills in Uttrakhand. Upon arrival check into your pre - booked hotel and take rest.
  • Overnight stay at Binsar hotel with dinner

Day 2: Binsar wildlife tour.

  • Today full day explores the beauty of wild life centurion. There are per person fee and vehicle entry fee to enter Binsar wild Life Sanctuary. Early morning you can enjoy open jeep safari (At additional cost) inside the Wildlife Sanctuary for your tryst with the big cats. Elephants are also available for dense jungle safaris on a first come first serve basis. Birding treks and horse safaris are also exciting options for the enthusiasts. After morning wildlife tour may have lunch at a good restaurant then go for visit some local Binsar sightseeing which includes Bineshwar Temple & in the evening visit Binsar view point.
  • Back to hotel and overnight stay at Binsar with dinner

Day 3: Binsar–Delhi (Approx 490.0 km. / 9-10 hours)

  • After breakfast check out the hotel further drive to Delhi en-route visit Almora the cultural city of Kumaoun Uttarakhand reach Delhi by elate evening. Tour ends.

Inclusions


Transport to and from the base camp
The above trek cost includes transport to and from base camp.
Safety equipment
First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.
Accommodation
Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accomodation and seprate accomodation for girls/ladies will be povided
Meals
All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
Permits/ Forest fees
UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
Experienced Trek Leader & Team
Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assiston trek.
Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

Exclusions


Food during transit to and from the base camp
Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
Mule and Porter charges
Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
Personal Expense
Personal Expense of any kind. The trek cost does not include stay at any location on last day
