Welcome to Sankri. we will meet at ISBT Dehradun at 7 AM and go for Sankri. The starting point for the Baraadsar Lake walk is this modest, picturesque town. Stay the night in a hotel or guesthouse in Sankri.
The day begins with a three-hour journey from the town of Sankri to Pithari, the location of the trek's beginning point. One of the oldest settlements in the area, with beautifully carved buildings made of pine wood, it exemplifies the vibrant and rich culture of this section of the nation. Prior to arriving at the first campsite, known as Barthatra Thatch, the route winds through tiny shrubs on a rise with breathtaking views of the vast open valley to the right. The first day of the trek is pretty decent in terms of difficulty, there are no steep ascends. But the major highlight of the day is the Barthatra campsite. Thatch is the local language for clearings of open grounds surrounded by forest. On the higher side of the slope, oak trees encircle the campground. This campground is ideal for exploring the area. Overnight stay in tents.
The trip today involves a constant increase of 2000 feet until you reach a clearing, which is about halfway through. The first section of the route leads you across wide-open fields with captivating vistas of the valley's opposite side. The path's opening section takes you through an abrupt oak woodland that remains for a significant length of time with the trail zigzagging through it. This trek is a nice surprise that will leave you wanting more and take away all the fatigue from the steady ascent. One can spot Swargarohini massif, Black Peak, many more unnamed peaks. If the time of year is perfect, you may get to witness full-blooming white and violet flowers, which adds to the allure of the place.
