The most well-known trek in India is without a doubt the Roopkund Trek. In the Indian state of Uttarakhand, there is a high altitude glacial lake by the name of Roopkund, also referred to as Mystery Lake. The hundreds of human remains discovered along the lake’s edge have made Roopkund, which is located in the foothills of the Trishul range, renowned. The Roopkund (lake) is located at an altitude of about 15,700 feet. It is an excellent place to go trekking because it is surrounded by mountains covered in snow and glaciers that are littered with rocks. The route leading to Roopkund passes through the twin Bugyals of Ali & Bedni. You enjoy breathtaking vistas of peaks like Kedarnath, Chaukhamba, Neelkantha, Trishul, and Nanda Ghunti all the way along the Roopkund trek. The stunning campsites on the Roopkund Trek are breathtaking. Roopkund trek best time is May – June, and September – October.
Once you arrive, depart from Kathogdam in the direction of Lohajung. As you near the small settlement of Lohajung, take in the grandeur of the oak and fir trees. Enjoy a wholesome dinner at Lohajung. Overnight stay in Lohajung.
Start your trek after a full breakfast at Lohajung. As you go on the trek, take in the splendour of the Neelganga river. To reach the picturesque Roopkund Glacier Lake, follow the snowy trek. After taking in the famed lake's splendour, go through mixed oak and bamboo forests till you reach Didna Village. Arrive at your first base camp and enjoy a hot dinner by the campsite. Overnight stay in tents, at Didna village.
At Didna, savour a delicious breakfast before getting ready for the trek. The trail takes you through oak and bamboo forests. During the journey, you may see the snow-capped Garhwal Himalayas. As you reach Ali Bugyal, take in the splendour of the wide alpine grazing pastures as. You relish over the mouth-watering dinner. Overnight stay at Ali Bugyal.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast before beginning your trek. As you ascend, spot a Himalayan Magpie on the way. Arrive at Ghora Lotani, unwind at the campsite, and take in the breathtaking views of the stars. Overnight camping in Ghora Lotani.
Trek all day; Experience icy winds around Your walk might begin after a hearty breakfast in Ghora Lotani. Trek to altitudes of 12,500-14,500 ft. Overcome the challenges offered by high altitudes, zigzag passes, and icy cold winds. You pass the renowned Kalu Vinayak and see the black stone Ganesha idol. Arrive at Bhagwabasa and spend the night camping in a dismal and lifeless environment. Overnight stay at Bhagwabasa.
Spot the Gangotri ranges Prepare for a difficult day after a freshly prepared breakfast at Bhagwabasa. Trek to the enigmatic Roopkund Lake, which is surrounded by Mt. Trishul and has awed many tourists with its countless tales. Trek for another half hour to reach Junar Gali, the highest point on this trail, and trek back to the base camp at Bedni Bugyal via Bhagwabasa. Observe the alluring Garhwal Himalayas in all their splendour as they reach Gangotri. Dinner will be served hot at the campsite. Overnight stay in Bedni Bugyal.
Wan; Trek through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows; Experience a memorable view of Neelganga river. Start your adventure with a delectable breakfast at Bedni Bugyal while being surrounded by rhododendron trees and alpine meadows. As you ascend experience and capture a glimpse of Mt. Trishul from Kanakdhar. En route, take in the peace of the small village of Wan. Spot the famous and holy Neelganga river on your way. Overnight stay at Lohajung.
After a hearty breakfast at Lohajung, interact with the locals to learn new facts. The trek is over. Say goodbye to the lovely trek.
The maximum altitude for this trek is 14500 Ft, offering breathtaking views and a challenging experience.
This trek is rated as " Moderate " due to the high altitude, rugged terrain, and demanding hiking days.
The trek spans 8Days/7Night, including travel to and from Kathgodam.
Participants should be at least 12 years to join this trek due to its demanding nature.
