Overview

The Kinnaur Kailasha, referred to as Kinner Kailash locally, is a peak located in the Himachal Pradesh state of India’s Kinnaur region. With a height of 17200 feet, Kinnaur Kailash is revered by both Hindu and Buddhist Kinnauris. Kinner Kailash circuit trek provides breathtaking views of the Kinnaur Kailash range’s soaring summits as well as nearby peaks like Raldang (5499m) and Jorkanden (6473 m). The region is hemmed in by Indo-Tibetan border and peaks of Zanskar and Greater Himalayan range on its north-eastern side. Dhauladhar range seperate it from Uttarakhand on the southern side .The beauty of Kinnaur comes from three of the world’s grand mountain ranges – the Zanskar, the Greater Himalaya, and the Dhauladhar, whose views this trek will cover. The grand parikrama starts in Kalpa and travels through the Triung valley before returning via the Sangla valley. The Sutlej River increases the trek’s wonders rising from the southern slopes of Kailash Parvat in Tibet flows through the Kinnaur valley. This trek is in the Bucket list of every trek enthusiasts.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Shimla to Charang

Reception at Shimla and drive from Shimla to Charang via Kufri, Narkanda and Reckong Peo. The Phawarang peak (6050 m) and the Rangrik range may be seen in magnificent detail on the route from Shimla to Charang, a lovely and picturesque settlement. Arrive at Shimla early in the morning, then climb the Jhaku hill after breakfast to visit the Hanuman temple, the museum, and the advanced study hall. Back to the hotel for lunch . It's a free afternoon to visit the mall. In the hotel, spend the night .

Day 2 : Acclimatization at Charang.

Village walk and a visit to Rangrik monastery and last ITBP post on the Indo-Tibetan border.. After breakfast, proceed to Rampur, the former Himalayan kingdom of Rampur Bushahr, by way of Kufri, Narkandha, and a descent. Continue to Sarahan the summer capital of the Rampur Bushehr. Visit a temple that is more than 1500 years old for a stunning vista of the Shir Khand peaks. Explore the places around Charang and pay a visit to the Rangrik Monastery. Overnight stay in the village homestay or camping.

Day 3: Charang–Lalanti

From Charang to Lalanti, we trek today. For the first two to three hours till we reach Charang Kanda, the ascent will be tough. Lalanti is a place with many wildflowers and beautiful meadows. After arriving in Kanda, the gradient is minimal till Lalanti. Visit the Rangrik Monastery and explore the area around Charang. Camping or homestaying in the community for the night

Day 4 : Lalanti – Base Camp of Charang La

We will drive to Thangi followed by a gradual trek along the stream to a beautiful campsite of Lamber. Overnight stay is in Lamber in tents.

Day 5 : Base Camp of Charang La – Charang La – Chitkul

On the 5th day of the Kinner Kailash trek, we will trek from Lamber to Charang. The Kinner Kailash trek goes through different terrain via Surting shepherd house. Overnight stay in surting shepherd house.

Day 6 : Chitkul– Shimla

Chitkul is the last village on the Indo-Tibet border. On this day, we will hike the 11 kilometres from Charang to Lalanti, aroute that is absolutely covered in wildflowers. Lalanti is a beautiful place for camping, an overnight stay here.

Day 7: Lalanti to Base of Charang (4550 m) 6km Trek

We will trek from Lalanti to the Base of Charang. This 6-kilometer track ascends through boulder fields, moraines, and glacier fields before ending at base camp. Overnight stay to basecamp of Charang.

Day 8 : Base to Chhitkul over Charang pass (4950 meters) 9 km. Trek

Today, we trek two hours across rugged terrain to reach the pass. There is a beautiful steep descent till Chhitkul, the last village of Baspa valley before the Indo-Tibet Border. Overngiht stay in camp near the village.

Day 9 : Chitkul to Sangla

From Chitkul, we will go to Sangla today. Situated in Baspa Valley, Kinnaur's most picturesque valley and home to Kamrufort. Visit the fort and village followed by an overnight stay in a camp.

Day 10: Drive from Sangla to Shimla, 203 km

From Sangla, it takes about 5-6/7 hours to reach Shimla. Sangla Valley is situated near Karcham, 203 kilometres away from Shimla. You will today exit the Shimla Kaza Highway after passing the Karcham Dam. Your lovely journey to Kinner Kailash, filled with many wonderful memories, comes to an end today.

    First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie etc. will be available at campsite.

    Stay is included from Day 1 to Last Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges will be provided. Tripple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies will be provided
  • Meals
    All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast at Last day are included. Veg food will be provided during the trek.
  • Permits/ Forest fees
    UTT will arrange trekking permits and forest passes.
  • Experienced Trek Leader & Team
    Qualified trek leaders haing in basic / advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist trek.Other staff member includes qualified cooks, helpers and porters.

    Food would not be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost at their own.
  • Mule and Porter charges
    Generally we expect trekkers to carry their bag-pack and luggage themselves. For those who wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for same.
