The trail is surrounded by the dense forest of Oak and pine trees, making the paves more astounding to cross. This trek can be considered as a moderate to difficult trek that will take you to about 15000 ft above sea level. Buran happens to be an ancient charming village that is embellished with some of the old houses, fruit-bearing trees. The major highlights of this place are Chander Nahan lake nestled near Chansal Peak and the Dhauladhar range that sweeps up an astounding 12,000ft from the valley floor, creating a beautiful barrier wall -mesmerizing!
Start from Shimla at 06:30 AM and take a 7-hour long journey. The base camp of this Buran Ghati trek is Janglik From Rohru to Darude, you will get to see the beautiful Pabbar river. from here it is mostly a dirty track but the journey is not very long. You will have about two hours of off road travel before you reach a place called Diude. From Diude, it’s a short walk to the base camp, janglik After reaching janglik, we will check-in a local guest house, hot dinner will be provided at the campsite
we will have a delicious breakfast with tea before we begin our journey ahead. today is the most scenic day of the trek as you climb uphill, all the way to the Dayara meadows. The trail out of the tree line descends gradually, skirting the top of the pines. The trail is well defined and broad. Almost an hour later, the trail enters another magnificent forest of pine and oak but thicker. Through the forest, the trail climbs gradually before popping out of it again in another half hour. The trail enters & comes out of the forest a couple of times till we finally arrive at our destination for the day. Overnight camping.
Get up early to catch the view of golden rays of sun falling on the grass in the meadow. Enjoy the view with a breakfast. The trail from Dayara to Litham will show you some of the dense forests, wide green meadows, gushing streams, and brooks as you cover an altitude of 740 feet in 3 hours. The trail goes through the meadows towards the Gunas Pass. Across the stream, the trail climbs out of the forest and rounds a wide curve to regain the views of the snow-capped mountains of the Dhauladhar range and Gunas Pass. Behind the pine forest, you will see the snow-lined cliffs. Half an hour later the trail will come to a forest full of silver birch. The forest is old and the silver birches gnarled with age. Across the meadows, the trail dips to the Chandranahan stream that you need to cross before throwing down your backpacks at the Litham campsite. We will stay the night at Litham campsite.
Today is for acclimatization as we make our way to chandranahan lake and back to the Litham campsite. The Chandranahan lake is a glacial tarn that is perennially fed by snow flanks of mountains that surround it. Cross the stream that you get just before the Litham campsite. After spending some time at the lake we turn back to the campsite. This short excursion will help you acclimatize for the trek ahead.
The Pabbar River, which rises on the Buran Ghati's slopes, continues to the northeast. Enter Dunda Thach, which is at the base of the pass, after passing through Khubrini Thach and leaving the tree line behind. One can see the mirror reflection of the towering Thalaysagar peak on the still waters of this lake. Leave Kedar Tal by noon and explore the Jogin Advance Base Camp perched at 4,900 metres. The perk of commencing this trek is that you can relish the best views of the Thalaysagar peak and from its west ridge; you can see the Thalaysagar icefall and the Jogin group of peaks. Trek back to Kedar Tal and crash in your sleeping beds.
The climb to the pass is simpler in the post-monsoon season because there is less or no snow. Walk along the ridge through the boulders starting at Dunda Camp. The ascent to the top of the Buran pass takes roughly an hour from the base. Stop at the pass and take in the breathtaking scenery. The path descends precipitously on the other side of the Buran pass. Rope usage is definitely advised in this situation. A snow field where it is simple to slide down replaces the steep plunge. We swiftly lose height and descend is quick. We'll pitch our tents close to the river and cross it the following morning to continue down the valley.
Today, we make our way through a stream after descending the valley. From river camping, the trail is clearly indicated. Take the lower route that leads down into the valley. The walk travels through a pine tree forest and grasslands. By afternoon, get to Kahrcham and board your vehicles for the return trip. You'll be dropped off at Shimla by the vehicles. This location marks the conclusion of the Buran Ghati trek.
